Kathleen E. Wunner, Ph.D., Head of School 

Dr. Kathleen E. Wunner has served as the Head of School at the Wyndcroft School, a co-ed, independent, pre-preparatory school in Pottstown since 1998.  Prior to this, Dr. Wunner was the Head of Lower School at The Haverford School for Boys for seven years, and before that, from 1977 to 1991, she served as a classroom teacher and team leader in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District.

Dr. Wunner was educated in Scotland and received the equivalents of a Bachelor Degree in Education and Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the former Notre Dame College of Education in Glasgow.  The college has since merged with the Education Department of Glasgow University.  Upon moving to the US with her husband, she earned a second Masters Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and graduated in the doctoral program there with a Ph.D.  in 1991.

For many years, Dr. Wunner has been active in the wider independent school community.  She has served as a member and as President of the Board of Directors of The Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools, (ADVIS) and also as a Board Member of The Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools. (PAIS)  She has also served as a Trustee of several independent schools.  Dr. Wunner has chaired Accreditation for Growth Evaluation Teams for Middle States, and is currently the chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools Commission on Accreditation.

Dr. Wunner is married to William Wunner, Ph. D. a professor of molecular biology and virology at The Wistar Institute of Philadelphia.   The Wunners live in Berwyn, PA.
