Traditions
At Wyndcroft we have many joyful traditions that mark the passing of the school year. These include:
September - The Back to School Picnic
This event is an annual gathering run by the WPTO for Wyndcroft families to socialize and for kids to participate in fun games and activities with their new and old friends.
October - The Batwing Ball
Both the Lower and Upper Schools celebrate Halloween with The Batwing Ball. The Lower School Ball is held during the day for students in Early Childhood
through fourth grade. For the spooktacular Batwing Ball, the WPTO transforms the gym into a Halloween playground. The ghouls, princesses and other beautifully costumed children are guided through activities and games like Eyeball Shoot, Spider Relay and Musical Tombstones to tunes spun by a DJ.
At dismissal, the gym is cleared, and the WPTO volunteers spring back into action redecorating the gym for the Upper School Batwing Ball that evening. Students in grades five to eight dress in elaborate costumes, play games and dance to music by a deejay.

October - The Book Fair & Parent Visiting Day
During this two day event, children and their parents are given the opportunity to purchase books for themselves, or to donate to their classroom or the library. Parents are invited to shop with their children on the second day of the Book Fair which is also Parent Visiting Day. All proceeds of the Book Fair go to the Wyndcroft library.

December - The Holiday Bazaar
Children shop for their loved ones and choose from an array of gifts displayed by craft vendors, including a table of crafts made or donated by Wyndcroft families. There is a wrapping area and plenty of good homemade food. This annual event is a community favorite.
December - Seasons of Celebration Concert
Holiday songs fill the air during the Wyndcroft School's annual Seasons of Celebration concert. Students in each grade present their musical talents with the Wyndcroft Chorus and Select Chorus adding their polished touch to a wonderful event before the holidays.

December - Holiday Luncheon and Dress Up Day
Students wear their fancy holiday outfits and enjoy a special holiday lunch of turkey and all of the trimmings.
January - French Fete
Celebrate French culture during the week of French Fete. Students enjoy French activities, assemblies and foods designed to further enhance the French program.
February - Paganalia (Latin Day)
Grades five to eight celebrate with skits and creative projects demonstrating their knowledge of Latin and ancient culture.
February - The Valentine Dance
Upper School students enjoy a night of dancing, socializing and fun with a DJ and snacks during this classy event run by the Student Council.
April - Grandparent/Special Friend Day
Grandparents or Special Friends are invited to spend the morning in school with their grandchildren or special friends. A short assembly in the gym opens the morning activities. Grandparents are then escorted to classrooms where they participate in a typical day in the life of their special Wyndcroft student.
April - Earth Week
Wyndcroft's celebration of Earth Day includes fun and educational activities for children of all ages designed to teach them the importance of caring for the Earth and all its inhabitants.
May - Spring Concert
An evening of talent is showcased during the annual Spring Concert. The evening starts with Instrumental and musical selections by the students and Choruses and concludes with a drama presentation which each year wows the audience.
May - Auction Extravaganza
This annual fundraising event is the highlight of the Spring calendar. A large silent auction with cocktails and hors' dourves starts the evening, and is followed by dinner under a beautifully decorated tent. The magical night concludes with a spirited live auction of special classroom projects, adventures and experiences. All profits from the Extravaganza go directly to The Wyndcroft School.
May - Arts Week
A highlight of the school year is Arts Week in May when we spend a whole week devoted to some aspect of the Arts. For this week, every inch of wall space in the school is decorated with stunning displays of the students’ work. Special events and presentations by guest speakers and visiting artist are enjoyed by during this week. In 2008, visiting artist, Jessica Gorlin-Liddel guided us in the creation of beautiful mosaic, now proudly hanging on the wall at the PreK entrance, and Robin Burckhardt helped design the 9 gorgeous flags depicting the history of Wyndcroft. Every student and staff member in the school played a part in the creation of these fabulous pieces of art work.
May - Sports Award Banquet
Sixth through eight graders and their parents commemorate their sporting accomplishments over dessert during the Sports Award Banquet. Certificates and awards for performance are given out for the year's sporting activities.

June - Blue vs. Gold Field Day
Blue vs. Gold! Every Wyndcroft familiy is assigned to a team for all their years at Wyndcroft. In May, the early childhood and pre-kindergarten students have their Field Day on the fields behind the School, while the kindergarten to eighth grade students head to the Hill School Far Fields for a day of friendly competition and fun! Upon returning to School, they are served a yummy lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs and treated to a "Make Your Own Sundae" bar provided by the WPTO.
June - Awards Day, Honors Day and Graduation
The school year comes to a close with a number of ceremonies rewarding our students for their hard work. An all school Awards Day acknowledges the academic achievements of Wyndcroft students in Latin, French, math, and science, and the Jean B. Sawyer Award is presented to a 5th grader whom the faculty believes best embodies the traits of this esteemed retired Wyndcroft teacher. During June, the fourth grade is also awarded certificates for completing the D.A.R.E. program.
On the afternoon before graduation, our 8th graders are invited to a luncheon with their families followed by the Honors Day ceremony where they are recognized for their academic successes.
Graduation is a big day at Wyndcroft. The seventh grade forms an honor guard for the graduating eight graders entrance. Each eighth grader speaks about their hopes and dreams and thanks their friends and families for their support over the years. All sing "Keep the Flame Alive" and The Wyndcroft School alma mater and bid our newest graduates farewell as they enter the next stage of their lives.
