Financial Aid

The purpose of the Financial Aid Program at The Wyndcroft School is to provide tuition assistance to those students who are unable to afford full tuition, but who contribute to the mission of the school by enhancing the academic and cultural experience of all Wyndcroft Students.  Wyndcroft believes that its mission of rigorous academics in a nurturing setting is best achieved when there is a cultural and socio-economic diversity in the student body.  The School attempts to achieve this goal by providing a limited amount of financial aid funds to a certain number of its students each year.

Each year the school receives a large number of requests for financial aid.  These applications may come from newly admitted students whose parents’ income cannot meet the full cost of tuition, from current students who have received aid in past years, or from current students whose families face a change in their financial status.  The Financial Aid Committee of The Wyndcroft School reviews all applications.  The following administrators of the school serve on the committee; the Head of School, the Assistant Head of School, the Admission Director, the Business Manager.

The Wyndcroft School accepts students based on academic merit, test scores, personal qualities and the belief that the child will thrive at the Wyndcroft School.  Financial Aid requests are considered only after a student has been accepted.

How Financial Aid Is Awarded

The following criteria are used to determine financial need of applicants:

  1. Financial Aid is granted only to families with children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade who demonstrate need.  To determine need, the committee asks that families send their complete financial information to the School and Student Scholarship Service for Financial Aid by NAIS.  The school receives, from SSS, a review of the Parents’ Financial Statement  which includes an estimation of  financial need.  The Committee then considers this report in relation to the entire pool of applicants, the annual budget, and other evaluative criteria outlined below.  In determining need the School does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, national or ethnic origin.
  2. The Financial Aid Committee considers applications for tuition assistance in the following order of priority:
    a) Families already receiving aid
    b) Current families applying for aid for the first time
    c) New families whose child has been admitted and who demonstrate need
  3. Forms for Parents Financial Statements are automatically forwarded to parents receiving financial aid in the current school year as well as to those parents who have made a request for financial aid for the first time.  Parents of students who are new to the school may obtain a Parents’ Financial Statement Form at the time of application from the Admission Office.  These forms must be completed and mailed to Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) by December 30th. In addition, we ask that  parents submit, to the Admission Office of Wyndcroft, a copy of your signed IRS 1040 tax form for the current year by March 30th.  This means that families applying for aid will have to complete their taxes before March 30th.
  4. The Wyndcroft School does not have the funds available to meet the  entire tuition need for all families.  Only partial awards are given and amounts are based on demonstrated need and the funds available each year.
  5. Renewal of a financial aid grant is based on proof of continued financial need.  For this reason, the Parents’ Financial Statement must be submitted to SSS each year.
  6. New students can be considered for financial aid only after they have been accepted to The Wyndcroft School through the regular admissions process.
  7. The Financial Aid Committee meets in March to begin to distribute awards.  All information provided by the family and held by Wyndcroft in the evaluation and award process is strictly confidential.
