Community Service

Perhaps the Wyndcroft motto, Non Sibi, is most embodied through the works of the Community Service Committee of the Wyndcroft Parent/Teacher Organization (WPTO).  The community service activities developed under the guidance of this committee of about 20 volunteers benefit not only those near to us and but often reaches to far away places.  From collecting items for area food banks or dancing for an African orphanage, Wyndcroft makes a tremendous impact.  In addition to school-wide functions, both the upper and lower school grades do major projects each year under the guidance of the Community Service Committee.

Some classroom Community Service Projects from the past year have included:

  • Lucky dogs!  The Early Childhood children collected items for the SPCA.
  • Two Pre-K powerhouses united when our Pre-Kindergarten and the YWCA preschool program got together and worked on a joint project.
  • The Kindergarten classes visited  Manatawny Manor to entertain the residents with their delightful songs and ditties.
  • There was Holiday Cheer in December when the 1st Grade students filled holiday stockings with handmade bookmarks, cards and special treats for the female residents at the VA Center in Spring City.
  • Wyndcroft’s 2nd Grade created gift packages for the women and children being served by the Salvation Army Emergency Shelter in Pottstown.
  • The 3rd Graders supplied special items for the children cared for by The Free Clinic in Phoenixville.
  • The children in 4th Grade made placemats, notes, magnets and other crafts to be included with meals delivered on Valentine Day by Meals on Wheels in Pottstown.

And each year there are many community service activities embraced by the entire school community:

  • Wyndcroft collected non-perishable food items, clothing and toys to fill over 150 Holiday Cheer baskets for the Cluster Outreach Center in Pottstown for the 8th year.
  • Students rocked during a Dance-a-thon and raised over $3,000 for the Littlefield Home Orphanage and School in Malawi, Africa.
  • For a small donation students got to wear something pink to school and raised $1,470 for the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s program, Passionately Pink for the Cure.
  • Wyndcroft sponsored its 6th Annual Keystone Community Blood Drive which provides for patients in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center and the Reading Hospital & Medical Center.
  • Wyndcroft students raised over $5,000 by reading for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.
  • The whole school proudly wore their red clothing in support of our overseas Troops.
