Advisory

Throughout the school there are two sections of Wyndcroft students in each grade. The average size of a section is twelve students.  Also, in grades five through eight, all students are assigned to an Advisory Group.   Advisory groups are made up of students from both sections and are smaller than sections, averaging eight to ten students per advisory.  Advisory groups meet with their faculty advisor first thing every morning, and for one full period each week.  The Upper School Advisors are faculty members who have special responsibility for the care of their advisees both academically and socially.  An Upper School Advisor monitors each advisee’s progress across subjects, and is aware in an ongoing way of the advisee’s well being.

In advisory groups, advisors and their advisees address such topics as academic effort, the development of good work habits, time management, stress management, peer relations and the development of good communication skills.  Advisors are always there to support the student, talk with a parent, or to facilitate communication with any subject teacher.  Advisory groups also work together on community service projects and enjoy celebrating birthdays!

The Upper School Advisory Program is just of one the many ways The Wyndcroft School makes sure no students fall between the cracks academically, socially or emotionally as they progress through the grades of the Upper School.
