Physical Education

A formal physical education curriculum begins with a structured gym program in pre-kindergarten and continues in the upper grades. Throughout the years at Wyndcroft, the physical education curriculum is designed to challenge children to achieve their personal best. All students in grades 6 to 8 are required to participate in in at least one of the three team sports.  Each season, students may take part in a team sport, or they may participate in a coeducational, athletic option.

Philosophy of Athletics

The Wyndcroft athletic program will, in accordance with the school's mission, give the students the opportunity to participate in an excellent extra-curricular sports program that promotes:

Healthy competition
Sportsmanship
Inner fortitude
Teamwork
Pride
Self esteem
Drive
Commitment
Camaraderie

Goals of the Athletic Program

Participation
Excellence in instruction at every level
Excellence in coaching at specific levels
Continuity in instruction and coaching
Good skill development

The following sports are available each season for girls and boys in grades 6-8:

Girls Boys Coed
Fall Field Hockey Soccer Fall Fitness
Winter Basketball Basketball Phys. Ed/ Racquet Sports
Spring Lacrosse Lacrosse Spring Swimming

While the coaches strive for success during each team sports season, skill refinement and team play are stressed. At Wyndcroft, the sport is less important than the spirit of teamwork, commitment, and sportsmanship. The initial honing of these assets for each child is the core of the athletic program at The Wyndcroft School.
