Ann Risell has been teaching Upper School French at Wyndcroft since 2004.
Why do you like teaching at Wyndcroft?
The kids! They’re motivated and fun!
What is your favorite Wyndcroft tradition?
There’s so many - I love the kindergarten holiday play, the Bazaar, and of course French fete, but I’d have to say I think it’s Grandparents’ Day. It’s wonderful to see the pride the students have for Wyndcroft as they engage with their grandparents or special friends at school. They can’t wait to share that Wyndcroft magic!
What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?
The value of travel and getting outside your comfort zone! Travel helps connect you with people who may be different from you, with cultures that may be different from yours, and teaches you to be open-minded and tolerant. Travel connects you to nature and helps you be present and live in the moment. I also like to work on the students’ rock and roll education - they should know where their music comes from!
What impresses you about Wyndcroft students?
Their motivation and their creativity as well as their welcoming attitude towards new students.
What do you want your students to gain from having known you?
That they can do whatever they like if they just try.
