Quick Questions: Mr. Ballantine, Drama Teacher
What inspired you to become a teacher?
Growing up I had a teacher in middle school who changed my life. I was unfocused and always starting trouble, but he inspired me to love learning and put all of my creative energies into the arts and my studies. I want to do the same for somebody else one day.
What is a book that you do not use in your curriculum that you would recommend all of your students read? Why that book? What makes it special?
Any anthology of plays and folklore from around the world. Storytelling is all around us and shapes culture and society. To get a great sense for the daily life of another person you should read the stories they grew up with.
Where is somewhere in the world you would love to travel to and why?
Korea. My dad is from there, but I've never been.
